Christmas Meal
The Christmas Meal project started in 2012 with a focus on providing a space for homeless people on Christmas day; we quickly realised however that there where many others in need, so we decided to welcome anyone and everyone who found themselves lonely, isolated or in poverty over the Christmas period.
During our Christmas Meal event we see around 250 people from all across Liverpool, coming to celebrate Christmas together. On the day we provide a 3 course dinner, with gifts, games and live entertainment.
The Christmas Meal has become a lifeline for so many, with some guests who have attended saying it was their best Christmas ever! We often hear stories from guests about how before Christmas they had absolutely nothing, no plans, no finances, no hope. But after coming along to our meal, they where blown away by the provision, often leaving with full bellies and big smiles!
As we move forward our vision is to help people back into independence, therefore we are promoting our "no place like home" initiative. This basically means for people who are living in small family and single person units, who find themselves experiencing loneliness and isolation we will still host our Christmas day meal. For larger families, and those not experiencing loneliness or isolation but still experiencing poverty, we will help you host Christmas at home. Depending on needs we can help provide a hamper, gifts, games and decorations to help families take that step back into independence.
Ultimately our goal is to partner with other organisations and groups to ensure everyone has access to a local Christmas day meal and that nobody is left out over the Christmas period.
If you would like to get involved with the Christmas meal, or feel you would like to set up a Christmas meal in partnership with The Hope Foundation in your local area, please today!
For our 10th anniversary we decided to put together a booklet to share about our impact over the past 10 years and our plans moving forward!
