Children,
Young People and Families
The Hope Foundation provides welcoming, inclusive and affordable activities for children, young people and families across Liverpool.
Our programmes give families opportunities to enjoy healthy food, creative activities, educational experiences and quality time together. We aim to reduce holiday hunger, support children’s wellbeing and development, strengthen family relationships and ensure that financial hardship does not prevent children from taking part.
Many of our activities are free or supported through charitable funding. Some events require advance booking because spaces are limited.

Cooking with Hope
-Summer 2026 -
Cooking with Hope – Summer 2026 is a family-focused community programme delivered by The Hope Foundation as part of our Summer Holiday activities. The programme brings children, young people and their families together to learn simple, healthy and affordable recipes while enjoying quality time, developing practical life skills and building confidence in the kitchen.
Each session provides hands-on cooking experiences where participants prepare nutritious meals using accessible ingredients that can easily be recreated at home. Alongside cooking, families have the opportunity to learn about food hygiene, healthy eating, budgeting and reducing food waste in a fun, welcoming and supportive environment.
Children are encouraged to take an active role through age-appropriate food preparation and creative activities, helping them develop independence, teamwork and an interest in healthy eating. Parents and carers are supported to gain confidence in preparing low-cost family meals while sharing ideas and experiences with other local families.
As part of the programme, families enjoy a freshly prepared meal together and receive recipe cards to encourage continued cooking at home. Where funding allows, ingredients or food parcels may also be provided to help families recreate the recipes independently.
The programme aims to:
-
Promote healthy eating and positive nutrition.
-
Develop practical cooking and food preparation skills.
-
Increase confidence in preparing affordable family meals.
-
Reduce holiday hunger by providing nutritious food.
-
Encourage children to try new foods and develop healthy habits.
-
Strengthen family relationships through shared activities.
-
Create enjoyable memories in a safe, welcoming community environment.
Cooking with Hope – Summer 2026 is made possible through the support of our funding partners, volunteers and community supporters, helping ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn, eat well and enjoy their school holidays.

From local farms, museums and places of interest to picnics in local parks and community activities, each trip is designed to encourage learning, build confidence and strengthen family relationships. The programme helps ensure that families who may not otherwise have the opportunity can take part in enriching experiences, creating lasting memories while exploring, learning and having fun together.
